Eligible music workers can receive a one-time grocery gift card.

WHAT IS IT?

Unison’s Grocery Gift Card Support program was created to support music workers who earn the majority of their income from the Canadian music industry and are experiencing food insecurity due to unemployment, underemployment and/or the high cost of living.

Approved applicants receive a one-time grocery gift card to a grocery store of their choosing.

WHO IT’S FOR?

To be eligible, you must:

• Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid Work Permit
• Reside in Canada a minimum of 6 months out of the year
• Have a Canadian bank account and pay Canadian taxes
• Earn at least 50% of your income from the Canadian music industry
• Have earned a minimum of $10,000 in your career in the Canadian music industry
• Have a minimum of 2 consecutive years of employment in the Canadian music industry
• Be experiencing food insecurity due to unemployment, underemployment and/or the high cost of living

HOW TO APPLY

Documents you’ll need

• Government-issued photo ID
• Proof of current address (if different from ID)
• Work permit (if applicable)
• Resume, CV, bio, or letter of employment
• Website links or materials demonstrating a career in the Canadian music industry

Where do I start?

1. Create an account on Unison’s online application portal HERE (or log in with your existing account).
2. Log in to the online portal to complete the Grocery Gift Card Support application.

RECEIVING YOUR GIFT CARD

Physical gift card

• The physical gift card will be mailed to your address.
• Delivery timeline: 7–14 business days.
• If your mailing address has changed, please confirm the correct address immediately.

Digital gift card

• The digital gift card will be sent to your email address.
• Delivery timeline: 1–2 business days.

This is a one-time support. At this time, repeat applications are not accepted so that we can support as many music workers as possible.
